How to get a quality cover for your motorbike or four-wheeler

Bike covers used to be the go-to for those of us who couldn’t afford an expensive garage. But that is not the case anymore, as time and the great quality of these products have convinced even the rich and famous of their efficiency at protecting bikes from all kinds of damaging factors.

You can use them to keep pigeon waste away from the sensible paint, or to keep the rain at bay. Or, if you live in a place where the weather is hectic, you can even use a waterproof cover to protect the vehicle of choice against frost and strong winds. There’s no limit when it comes to the ways you can use a cover.

Sometimes they get a bad reputation for being inefficient. That is not the case anymore, as most products are made from high-grade materials like plastic, polyurethane and even from breathable elements, which are ideal from all points of view when it comes to protecting your belongings.

When it comes to choosing the preferred model for your motorcycle or ATV, you need to keep in mind that there are plenty of manufactures on the market, which offer incredible products of good quality. Several companies make heavy-duty outdoor covers, and I don’t think you can go wrong with any of them.

You can go for either low budget or expensive models. The other option is to choose mid-grade units, which are flexible and portable, at a balanced price. Moreover, they are quite compact, so even if you go camping, you can still take your cover with you, to protect it from bad weather and debris.

These can be tarps or PVC covers, which have a certain degree of water-resistance. Another style of cover is made mainly for summer protection from the sun’s UV rays and it is known as a half-cover, or a bikini top, if you ask someone from the South what it is called.

If you want to get a quality product, think about where you are going to keep your motorcycle. If outside, then besides having UV protection, it should also be heat-resistant. This way, you can use it even if the vehicle is hot after you’ve returned from a day of riding, without fearing the fabric will melt. If the model you prefer isn’t heat-resistant, just let your two or four wheeler cool for a bit.

A clever tip I can give you is to buy simple covers, which don’t attract any unwanted attention. It’s something that will keep thieves away. Even if you or your family are proud owners of a Harley-Davidson, it is still a good idea to buy a bland, black cover, as thieves will think your vehicle is not worth stealing.
